Adult ASD Assessments
Our adult Autism (ASD) assessments are designed to help you gain a clear understanding of whether autism may be influencing the way you experience, interpret, and interact with the world around you. Each assessment is carried out by experienced clinicians and follows national best practice and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines to ensure accuracy, consistency, and respect for each individual’s experience.
How the Assessment Works
-
Initial Screening & Background Information
The process begins with a structured screening stage. You’ll be asked to complete background questionnaires and provide developmental history where possible (for example, early childhood information from family members, if available). This helps our team understand your communication style, sensory profile, relationships, education and work history, and everyday challenges or strengths.
-
Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment
You’ll then meet with one of our specialist clinicians for an in-depth online assessment. This is usually conducted by a specialist ASD clinician typically a Registered Mental Health Nurse, consultant psychiatrist and clinical psychologist.
The assessment uses recognised diagnostic tools such as:
-
ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition) modules adapted for adults
-
ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised) where developmental input is available
-
Standardised self-report and observer questionnaires (e.g. AQ, RAADS-R, EQ)
-
Clinical interview exploring social communication, repetitive behaviours, sensory sensitivities, and adaptive functioning
The goal is to build a detailed understanding of how your experiences align (or do not align) with current diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder, while acknowledging your individuality and strengths.
-
-
Diagnostic Formulation & Clinical Review
Following your appointment, the clinician reviews all gathered information — including your interview, questionnaires, and collateral reports if available — to reach a diagnostic conclusion in line with DSM-5 and/or ICD-11 criteria. Where needed, the case may be discussed at a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting to ensure a balanced, evidence-based outcome.
-
Written Diagnostic Report & Feedback Session
You’ll receive a detailed written report summarising:
-
The diagnostic outcome (confirmed, not confirmed, or inconclusive)
-
A clear explanation of how the decision was reached
-
Your unique strengths and support needs
-
Recommendations for workplace or educational adjustments, and signposts for further support
A short follow-up feedback call can be arranged to discuss your report and next steps.
-
Important Information About Follow-Up
The initial assessment package covers the full diagnostic process described above — from screening to written report.
Post-diagnostic support and follow-up sessions are not included in this package.
However, we offer separate post-diagnostic packages that can include:
-
One-to-one guidance sessions
-
Workplace or university liaison reports
-
Referrals for counselling, coaching, or occupational therapy
-
Medication or mental health reviews (if indicated)
These options can be arranged once your diagnostic report is complete, so you remain fully supported at your own pace.

Our adult ADHD assessments are designed to help you understand how Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may be influencing your focus, organisation, emotional regulation, and daily functioning. Each assessment is conducted by experienced clinicians following national best practice and NICE guidelines, ensuring a thorough, structured, and evidence-based evaluation.
How the Assessment Works
-
Initial Screening & Information Gathering
The assessment begins with a comprehensive online screening questionnaire via our secure patient portal. This collects information about:
-
Concentration, attention, and memory patterns
-
Emotional regulation and mood
-
Work, study, and daily life challenges
-
Personal and developmental history
Where possible, we encourage input from family members or partners to provide additional context about lifelong patterns of attention, behaviour, and organisation.
-
-
Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment
If the screening suggests the possibility of ADHD, you’ll be invited to an in-depth video consultation with one of our specialist clinicians — typically an ADHD specialist clinician, who are a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Consultant Psychiatrist or Clinical Psychologist.
During this session, the clinician will:
-
Explore your personal, educational, and occupational history
-
Discuss patterns of attention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and executive functioning
-
Review responses to standardised questionnaires (such as ASRS-v1.1, Conners’ Adult ADHD Rating Scale, and other validated tools)
-
Consider co-existing conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, ASD) that may influence symptoms
The goal is to gather enough information to make a formal diagnostic decision, in line with DSM-5 or ICD-11 criteria, while acknowledging your unique strengths and challenges.
-
-
Diagnostic Formulation & Clinical Review
Following the consultation, your clinician reviews all collected information, including questionnaire data, interview notes, and any collateral reports. For complex cases, the assessment may be reviewed in a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting to ensure a robust, evidence-based conclusion.
-
Written Diagnostic Report
You’ll receive a detailed report summarising:
-
The diagnostic outcome (ADHD confirmed, not confirmed, or inconclusive)
-
How the diagnosis was reached, with reference to clinical guidelines
-
Your individual profile of strengths, challenges, and coping strategies
-
Recommendations for work, study, and daily life support
-
